Special Projects and Consulting

Once Enersol’s achievements in solar-based rural electrification became known, opportunities to support the work of others through special projects and consulting assignments emerged.  Assignments included market assessment, training and technical assistance.

Clients included The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and Sandia National Laboratories, among others.  Enersol assisted NRECA with their first experiences with PV for rural electrification in Belize (1991), Guatemala (1992) and Bolivia (1993).  Beginning in 1994, Enersol assisted Sandia National Laboratory, with the U.S. Department of Energy’s (USDOE) Mexico Renewable Energy Program in collaboration with Winrock International and the Southwest Technology Development Institute  [for more information http://www.re.sandia.gov/]. Enersol’s work in Mexico was enhanced by the transfer of its PV water pumping experience from the Dominican Republic.

In 1996, as interest in the work of both Enersol and Soluz increased, these two organizations established a 10-year consulting joint venture, Global Transition Consulting, Inc.

Clients of Global Transition Consulting have included the World Bank’s IBRD, the International Finance Corporation and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through Winrock International, USDOE and others.  [For more information check out www.globaltransitionconsulting.com]

After completing the 10-year joint venture, in 2006 Global Transition Consulting, Inc. merged with Soluz.   Knowledge from Enersol and Soluz continues to be available on a contract basis through Global Transition Consulting, now a division of Soluz, Inc.
