Enersol's mission is to bring renewable solar energy
solutions to people living in
the unelectrified areas of Latin American countries. We are
particularly interested in community health
and education projects, because we believe these are two
areas where the use of renewable energy
technology can have the greatest humanitarian impact.
The current focus on our AguaSol
and EduSol programs results
from having successfully introduced simple photovoltaic
(PV) systems into residential homes through rural community development
programs, assisted by local business and NGO partners. EnersolĖs
health and education programs continue to lead innovation in the
non-profit rural energy sector.
The solar-based rural electrification concept Enersol developed in the
1980Ės provided training and technical assistance to local technicians
and NGOs, and pioneered the introduction of PV technology. As a
result, over 10,000 rural households
in the Dominican Republic
and Honduras have been electrified, and our model replicated by solar
energy promoters around the world. To

Today, household electrification support is provided exclusively through
Global Transition Consulting, Inc. (GTC) established in
1996. GTC provides a wide range of consulting services to plan
and implement
successful, sustainable solar-based rural electrification activities,
including: program feasibility and design, project development
assistance,
technical and management training, and rural energy business development.
Enersol is a member of the Global
Transition Group (GTG).
